I severed his thick hair,
Sold his whispered words,
Stole away unflinching,
Night cool on my skin.

Now I face this unopened door.

I'm summoned,
Watch ticking,
Second after second,
On my banded wrist.

I'm counting,
One after the other
Silver pieces,
Steely in my palm.

I'm tracing,
Link by link,
A chain glinting,
In darkness.

It ends here,
Time stops,
The sum weighed.
